Our Story
First Gem Phils Electric Corporation was founded by spouses Romeo and Juliet Cruz. It was their desire to create jobs for fellow Filipinos and to help alleviate the economy of the Philippines.
Starting out with just 10 employees and operating out of the Cruz's home garage, the company quickly outgrew the initial space and had to transfer to a 200 square meter warehouse along Parañaque.
In 1991, Gemphil Technologies Inc. was established. It began at the back of the Sucat property, and now has its own facilities in Cabuyao and Cebu.
In 1993, Gemphil's trading business was started. Gemphil Trade International handles the marketing and distribution of compressors, thermostats, capacitors, switches, terminal blocks, strainers, driers, fuses and other electrical parts and supplies.
In 1994, the Mission and Vision Statement was launched by Chairman Romeo V. Cruz. Vice Chairperson Juliet V. Cruz was at the helm of the concern-for-people management approach on the business.
Romeo and Juliet's eldest son, RJ, was named President of Gemphil. He continues to serve as President & Chief Executive Officer to this day.
In 2004, Gemphil expanded market reach and manufacturing by establishing a subsidiary in Vietnam. GemphilViet Manufacturing & Industrial Corproation is a manufacturer & distributor of wire harnesses and allied products for the automotive, bus, motorcycle, and other related industries.
In 2005, the company was renamed to Gemphil Electronics Assemblies, Inc. upon its accreditation as a PEZA-registered company.
Quickly outgrowing its previous factory, Gemphil moved to Carmona, where it continues to operate out of a 5000 square meter factory inside the PTC-Special Economic Zone.
Expanding to yet another country, F&S-Gem was established in 2009 with Fortune & Star Co. Ltd. of Thailand. The company distributes electrical accessories and component parts for the home appliance, consumer electronics, and other related industries.
Gemphil Electronics was recognized for its commitment to community development through the Corporate Social Responsibility Award, given by the Carmona Local Government Unit. You can read more about our efforts in engaging the local community in our Projects page.
Entering its fourty-fifth year of operations, the company runs with the support of over 150 employees and is still proudly led by the Cruz family.
